Your uterus: If the cramps are in both thighs (upper legs), they are most likely referred from your uterus Aleve (naproxen) or similar medicine should help.

Not all do: Some women complain of achy legs during cycles. The cause is not always known.  It may improve with hydration and increase water intake. You could consider being checked for anemia and thyroid disease. Birth control pills will likely decrease the menstrual cycles and the symptoms that go along with them

Period coming?: Many people have those kind of symptoms for several days prior to the bleeding starting. Pre-period symptoms can also be worse if your period is late.  Make sure you don't get any signs of infection, like fever.  Use non-steroidal anti  inflammatory medication (like ibufrofen) or heating pad for the discomfort. Get seen if it's not getting better soon.

Doubt it's the IUD : The pattern of symptoms &amp; projection to one side is more suggestive of a kidney stone. This may be worth a visit if the discomfort is persistent.

whats the difference between muscle(leg) cramps and actual pain? does leg cramps last only short periods in comparison? mine come and go. it lasts for few mins at a time and happens mostly in bed. thanks .

Cramps: You are having cramps.  Common to come on at night and last a few minutes as you describe.  Cramps are a result of muscles that depolarize and contract.  Causes for this are for this are often associated with potassium, calcium or magnesium problems.

on cd 14 of my period and i guess im ovulating as im feeling cramps in ovary(i feel them every time i ovulate) but whats weird is that im getting leg cramps from it this time,especially when laying down,which is unusual for me.is that normal?

Possibly: You are definitely likely to be ovulating at this point in your cycle, especially if the type of pain you have is similar to other cycles. The leg pain could possibly be referred from the ovary, but if you have never had an ultrasound to evaluate for ovarian enlargement/cyst compressing a nerve, that would be something to ask your GYN Dr about

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Prob not PB: With the normal periods, you are prob not PG
This cycle may be just because you did not ovulate.
If the cramps and leg aches increase, or other new symptoms, then see your DR
IF the cramps and leg aches go away, wait for the next cycle.
If not normal, then see your DR
