Depends: His creatinine level is slightly elevated for his age.  It could also be related to dehydration.  Repeat labs and correction with other values may be helpful.

BUN/Cr: It means that your kidneys are still functioning properly to maintain a normal kidney function result. By itself, it does not eliminate any kidney issues.

Elevated Cre: Creatinine level of 1.5 is high, but it does not necessarily mean you have kidney disease. Creatinine can also become elevated with dehydration. However there are other markers for kidney function including CUN, BUN/Creatinine ratio, among others. It is important to see your physician so your overall case can be evaluated.

Diagnosis: The creatinine going up does signify a process relating to the kidney, generally.  There are reversible causes that have a good prognosis, like dehydration.  Ask your doctor to clarify.  Has this been going on a long time?  How high is the creatinine?

It' a good sign: Perhaps, she was started on a medication, called epogen, (epoetin alfa) which stimulates red blood cell production. The fact that her bun came down is probably a good sign.

Kidney disease?: You need to be seen by a nephrologist (n) to have a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance and protein to get an accurate assessment of your kidney function. Your GFR numbers, 63 and 76 ml/min, are estimates only. Ask the n to order blood work and a renal ultrasound to get an idea of what your real kidney function is. Good luck.

Proteinuria: Up to 200mgs of proteinuria per 24 hours is considered the normal limit in pregnancy so you may be ok there. However high blood pressure in pregnancy is worrisome, needs to be treated and must be closely monitored by your obstetrician. He/she will can advise you about proteinuria.

Yes. : They lesions or diseases often are accompanied by high bp. There are kidney tubule defects or hormonal disturbances related to the adrenal gland function that can cause low potassium yet lab testing show normal kidney function in terms of clearance. Also medications and herbal supplements (including even exotic type of tea, licorice, or some tobaccos) can cause potassium disturbances.

is ok for a person with polycystic kidney disease to take an occasional b12 supplement?

Yes: B12 vitamin supplement will not do any harm.
