why do i have to poop after every meal? is that normal?

: Not only is it normal, it is desirable.    Many people would love to poop after every meal.  This is a result of the gastro-colic reflex.

i've heard that eating stimulates your digestive system and makes you have to poop. so why arent i pooping after each meal?

Thats not true: It is not true and if it was we will all be running to toilet to move our bowels after each meal.
There is a condition called gastro colic reflux
it has been called into place in the pathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome, and a number of neuropeptides have been thought as mediater of gastrocolic reflux.These are serotonin, neurotensin, gastrin and cholecystokinin.

i often have to poop a few hrs after eating, which can be annoying if im out with friends. how can i make myself poop immediately after meals?

It's impossible.: Food should be degraded in the mouth, stomach and bowls. It takes at least few hours.

Need exam: May just be irritable bowel, but  bowel fistulas and some other serious conditions can occur.
Irritable bowel is serious too but not as dangerous.

GI problem: There is a reflex called the gastro-colic reflex where food in the stomach, especially caffeine sets off a reflex bowel movement. However loose frothy stools are NOT normal.  It may be a short-lived problem such as a viral or bacterial pathogen in the GI tract.
If it goes on for a month or more, then it should be evaluated by a gastroenterologist. You may need a colonoscopy.

my 3 yo son is pooping 3 to 4 times a day. mostly during or after the meal. stool is normal, but is it ok to poop 3 or 4 times a day? he usually have bowel movement 1 or 2 times a day, but this has been increased to 3 to 4 times in the last 10 days?

: It may be related to something in his diet-has something been added to his diet or is there something in his diet he is eating more of lately? Thinking about this may lead you to the culprit causing the increase in stools. If it continues, and there is nothing different in his diet, ask his doctor. Could be normal: This could be completely normal. Some people have 2-3. If this a new pattern, there is pain in belly, loose stools, blood in stools, then I would be concerned. A large meal can cause a reflex that instigates an urge to defecate upon some people.

Frequent bm,s: Keep a diet diary for two weeks and see if your physician can pin down the cause.  The other thing i would do is check him out for celiac disease.
