i have diarreah for 1 week. 5-6x a day and nausea. gastro testing shows no infections. i'm on imodium but doesn't seem to help much. what could this be?

: This could be a prolonged viral gastrointestinal tract infection or some sort of food intolerance or food poisoning.  Avoid roughage &amp; dairy products. Drink lots of fluids including room temperature flat ginger ale.  If imodium &amp; soft, bland diet doesn't help, your MD.may be willing to prescribe lomotil and repeat the stool culture for enteric pathogens including ova&amp; parasites

54f non-alcoholic-had diarrhoea for 1 day last week.had imodium,domperidone+rabeprazole,ornidazole. after diarrhoea had nausea,vomiting,mild fever for 5 days.had very little food then.now since 3 days eating normal,but in last 3 days lost 1kg.

Mostly water: The lost weight was mostly water. If the diarrhea is gone and the person is back on normal diet, the lost weight will be made up in a week or so , if not sooner.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

i have had diarrhea since late wednesday night 16th dec. i have tried imodium but not helping and stools are still runny up until today. i dont have a temperature but am thirsty and not much appetite. i dont feel nauseas. what do i do?

Hydration: Diarrhea typically lasts 5-7 days. Use of Imodium may relieve immediate symptoms, but makes the illness last longer. Drink lots of fluids/electrolytes (up to 2.5 liters), rest and limit your food intake to bananas, plain rice, apples and Toast/crackers. No spicy or fatty foods.

Imodium (loperamide) not for acid: Imodium (loperamide) is an opiod (narcotic) antagonist. It is designed to help decrease the contractions of the muscles of the stomach, intestine and colon. It does not decrease stomach acid. In fact, it might make acid reflux worse by make the stomach worse less.

i am a o+ anaemic. lately i have been feeling dizzy, constant headaches, stomach cramps, diarrhea with mucus and blood in them. 
i bough imodium and loperamide but they didn't help. please assist?

Anemia, diarrhea: You may have inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis or an invasive bacterial intestinal tract infection. Anemia will be aggravated and causes lighteadedness,fatigue and weakness. Drink adequate room temperature fluids, Avoid all roughage and follow a bland,soft solid diet.Take antidiarrhea meds per instructions. Contact a gastroenterologist You need proper tests and specialist care.

good day, please advise i am fresh off a course of flagyl antibiotics in tuesday due to a dental absus, i am now experiencing diarrhea and am 30 weeks pregnant, it is safe for me to take imodium? i have had banana and flour and water but still.thanku

Discontinue Imodium (loperamide) : Imodium (loperamide) decrease bowel movement. Thus, it might stop diarrhea temporarily but it can cause paralysis of your bowel causing nausea even vomitting. It does not treat the cause of diarrhea. It might worsen the symptom if it's due to infection. Losing 2 lbs from having diarrhea yesterday is serious. You need to drink plenty of fluid, like gatorade and see a doctor soon.

i have had nausea and diarrhea for a month now.  had endoscopy, emptying test, stool, celiac tests.  all negative.  taking zofran (ondansetron) and imodium.  everything i eat goes right through.  what is next?

Test food allergy: Diarrhea, nausea and vomiting can sometimes be signs of food allergy or sensitivity.  Keep a diet diary for two weeks noting the foods eaten and the symptoms you experience. This can sometimes reveal an unrecognized allergy.  If you find a link then specific testing can be done to confirm the sensitivity.

Doctor can evaluate: It is not normal to have diarrhea, so one can look for the usual causes of temporary diarrhea, with temporary meaning it will go away in a day or a few days. Causes may include stomach viruses, contaminated food, medication effects, any food that just didn't agree with the stomach or intestines (and caused rapid transit of the stool), etc...  When symptoms are prolonged, a doctor can evaluate.
