i have frequent urination and i got my urine tested at the doctor... no signs of a uti or an std. i am not experiencing any pain. what could it be?

It was a really good idea to have your urine tested and rule out an infection either in the urinary tract or the genital tract.  Frequent urination usually occurs because of the amount of water that we drink or the types of beverages that we drink.  You will notice an increase in urination if you drink beverages with caffeine or alcohol.

Get tested: Sounds like you may have a UTI. Frequently, the symptoms of UTI and STI overlap so it can be hard to differentiate between the two (even for physicians). Urinalysis and/or pelvic exam with evaluation of vaginal/cervical secretions is the sure-fire way to get your answer. See your doctor for testing. Take Care.

Several: Plus a urinary tract infection or prostate problems can cause the same thing. Check w/your doctor to find out.

Not an STD: No STD causes increased urinary frequency. And oral sex is safe sex -- not completely risk free, but with much lower chance of infection than vaginal or anal sex. You can expect negative STD test results, which will be conclusive. The only likely relationship of your symptoms to the oral sex exposure is anxiety about it. No infection causes this.

Symptoms of HIV: Frequent urination may very well be a sign of a common sexually transmitted disease.  But, it is not a symptom of early HIV infection.

Now, if your sexual activity is deemed to have been high risk then appropriate testing for both syphilis and HIV may be added to the visit. But, with your symptoms testing for gonorrhea and/or chlamydia is wise.

Irritable bladder: The symptoms you describe suggest irritation of the lower urinary tract ( bladder, urethra). This maybe due to infection, inflammation or pressure from something pressing on the area. Your doctor will want to rule out infection, pregnancy and growths that could put pressure on the bladder. If these have been ruled out, interstitial cystitis is possible. Your doctor can help sort this out.

Sounds like...: It sounds like you have an std and a uti.  What stds were you tested for? (there are twelve common stds) is there any odor? Does the urine burn?  Does your physician know you have all of these symptoms?

See a doctor soon: There are several possible causes for bloody urine (hematuria). STDs rarely do it, so not surprising your STD tests are negative. Some causes are serious. You need to see a doctor soon. Good luck!

UTI: Most likely a UTI though chlamydia can also do this.  But UTI most likely.  Would get urine culture.  You do need antibiotics...Bactrim or Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for three days would do it.
