allergic to sulfa drugs and amoxicillin.. is it safe for me to take hydrocodone, what to do?

They are unrelated .: So hydrocodone should not cross react with sulfa or penicillin allergies. However, hydrocodone is safe only if you take as little as possible, only when absolutely necessary, and only when not going to drive.

are either cefuroxime or novalgin sulfa based medications? if i'm allergic to amoxicillin would either of these cause problems?

Allergy: Neither of those compounds are sulfa based.  Patients with allergy to penicillin derivatives are said to have up to a 5% incidence of reactions to cephalosporins, although whether that is direct cross allergenicity is in question. Don't know what problems you are referring to.

i have proteus mirabilis. was given bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) but i'm allergic to sulfa. so was given amoxcillin 500mg twice a day for 5 days. is this effective?

Antibiotics for UTI: You best answer will come from the physician (p) who prescribed the Amoxicillin for you. You p knows the results of the sensitivities the bacteria have to antibiotics. Speak to your p for a more meaningful answer, as your p knows your case best of all.

No: Amoxicillin is a type of penicillin.  Ceclor is a type of cephalosporin.  Penicillins and cephalosporins are both beta-lactam antibiotics.

im allergic to amoxicillin and penicillin family my husband just got out of the emergency room for horrible pains and was prescribed amoxicillin for his infection are we able to kiss and have sex because one answer says yes and another says no?

: Although it is likely that you would not have any kind of reaction to kissing your husband, if your penicillin allergy was anaphylactic in nature and was severe, I would still avoid any body. Fluid contact with him. If it was not a severe reaction, you are probably OK. Good luck

someone shot me up with meth three days ago for the first time ever last night that spot started hurting and is red swollen hot i refuse to go to the er i have family who works there i have amoxicillin 875 mg twice a day for ten days will that help?

: At the very least, you have an injection site reaction, but more likely this is a local abscess that possibly could emerge into a cellulitis or more.  It is impossible for us to assess the potential organism(s) and whether there would be sensitivity to Amoxicillin.   Contact your regular doctor, but also consider contacting a Drug Crisis Center as an alternative option.

Possibly: If you are getting worse, you should probably go.  If you are the same, you could wait.

Probably Not : Stephens-Johnson syndrome is a rare disease that affects fewer than six people per million per year.
Unless you have had SJS before, with amoxicillin or another drug, the chances you will get it are vanishingly small. See your dentist immediately. Perhaps he can treat you without giving you an antibiotic. He can definitely avoid amoxicillin if this is a worry for you. Good luck

does amoxicillin go bad?

Accepted Answer

Yes: All drugs eventually go bad.  All drugs have an expiration date on the bottle.  The drug is not necessarily inactive after this expiration date but has only been tested by the manufacturer to be active for that length of time.
