i ate like 11 oreos earlier and i just had very dark stool - it looked near black in the bowl but brown when i wiped. no other symptoms. normal?

Stool color: it is all the coloring dye used on food products, that you saw in the bowl, well next time don't eat that many oreos.

my stool is usually flat. i have no other symptoms other than flatter stool. sometimes it's normal but most of the time is flat. should i be worried?

Flat stool: Flat stools are not unusual and may occur in irritable bowel syndrome or spastic colitis. Since you also have normal shaped stools at times, a constricting lesion, like cancer or scarring of your descending colon is unlikely. However,see your physician for evaluation if this is a definite change in your usual bowel pattern and appropriate testing will be done.

Evaluation: Color of the stool can change due to diet and supplements. Although the worry in such cases is bleeding from digestive system. Call your doctor.

Diarrhea: Is the most common symptom of most serotypes of salmonellae but many infections can cause diarrhea other than salmonellosis.

Bowel habit change: This is most often associated with more frequent,  possibly softer stools.   May be seem with anxious patients,  or irritable bowel syndrome.  Less likely a constructive lesion as in colon cancer may present this way.   You're a bit young for that likely. Use of increased fiber and stress reduction should help.

i've had orange stools for more than six months with no other identifiable symptoms. is this something i should be concerned about?

Stool change: Foods that can cause orange stools: sweet potatoes, carrots, winter squash, cilantro, thyme, kale, spinach, turnip greens & collards.  Artificial food coloring & some meds (antacids) are other reasons. Inadequate bile, gallstones, blocked bile ducts, irritable bowel & diarrhea are possibilities especially with symptoms like diarrhea, constipation or abd.Discomfort.   Stooling change warrants eval.

May be undigested: Cabbage. If it continues without eating cabbage then see your doctor.

Something you ate: most likely it is something you ate try to eat yogurt sometime it help resume your own intestinal flora and it might have some effect on the stool color as long as you do not have fever or diarrhea or bleeding do not worry about it

Constipation : You might try MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) to soften the soil and avoid straining. If that is too strong the n go back to a stool softener. Your styles should look like banana board not have any round in them an you should not be straining
