Not serious: While that is an abnormal menstrual pattern it is not likely to be serious. Some women have irregular cycles from the start. There may be some hormone irregularities causing this so some lab testing should be done and imaging such as an Ultraound may be needed if bloodwork is all normal. A pelvic exam may or may not be needed. If it is hormonal it is not usually too difficult to treat.

Common side effect: One of the most common side effects of Depo Provera is irregular prolonged menstrual bleeding or spotting.  This typically occurs within the first year of treatment and tapers off after the first year. Talk to your doctor if these symptoms are not going away or if you would like to change your method of birth control.

AUB: Even though no cysts , still doesn’t exclude PCOS ( Stein Leventhal Syndrome) or ovarian hormone d/o . Suggest lifestyle modification, oral contraceptives and metformin . Will also require Gynae appraisal.

Couple things: Depression risk doubles.  Also metformin may be helpful because it decrease Insulin levels; for 30% of women this will help ovulation.  The other effects on skin can be managed with ocp.  The combination of buproprion and metformin cam help wt loss. And mood but may need a little help with insomnia at first and i wouldn't start them simultaneously.  Look up metformin and pcos, go slow, get the xl.

if you have heavy bleeding B12 (along with iron & folic acid) will help you make new blood cells. 
Irregular heavy bleeding may be caused by fibroid  tumors or other imbalances and should be evaluated by a gynecologist.

Normal vs abnormal: Menstrual bleeding is the blood flow experienced during normal, regualr menstrual cycles. Irregular bleeding most typically refers to bleeding that occurs between cycles. Abnormal uterine bleeding (menorrhagia) refers to bleeding that is excessively heavy or lasts longer than average.

Can be a side effect: of the hormonal contraception, or other conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome. Discuss with your doctor to be sure.
