Find cause: Continuous hiccuping can be due to anything from disease irritating the diaphragm to a medication side effect to a goiter pressing on the phrenic nerve to neurologic disease. I am going to assume you are not an uncontrolled diabetic or in kidney failure. A physician's office visit is in order.

Hiccup is normal if it happens once in a while but the etiology should be investigated if it happens almost daily and persists for hours which makes you miserable. You need to see a doctor if hiccup makes you miserable. If certain thing triggers the hiccup, avoidance is the best treatment.
