Proper Diet low in Carbs,no sugars or sugar substitutes,fruits/veggies/beans/tree nuts/beans/lean protein/low saturated fat.

Low carbs: The most successful diet for people with insulin resistance is low carb/low starch diet (South Beach, Zone diet).  Any diet that promotes weight loss will help lower insulin resistance.  Exercise is also essential to help lose weight and keep it off.
