Inguinal hernia: This type of hernia is more common in men. Standing lifting straining and even sitting upright may aggravate it. If u feel pain in the area, have a bulge which does not reduce with laying down or mild pressure or other discomfort exists then seek medical attention. The only treatment which has long term effectiveness is surgical correction of the hernia. Good luck!

No: Once the repair has been incorporated into your tissue structure you are essentially normal. I wouldn't lose any sleep over self or partner sex.

Nerve injury?: It would depend on the exact technical details of the operation, and the precise location of the pain, what makes it worse, etc. If the injection was to block the nerve, and if it relieved the pain but only temporarily, another type of injection may cure it, as might reoperation. This is a rare and challenging problem. Your best bet is to get answers from your surgeon, or a 2nd opinion.

Can happen: This can happen for 3-4 months.  It is normal, IF the testicles are not swollen

bilateral open inguinal hernia repair 7 days ago. now have a small semi hard lump attached to the top of my right testicle that pushes out  into the skin of my scrotum. non tender. lots of swelling and purple bruising to the right side of scrotum. ?

Ice!: This may represent a hematoma (collection of blood gravity has pulled down into the scrotum), or a seroma—just a collection of tissue fluid following the ‘trauma” of surgery. I’d recommend wearing an athletic supporter and, when relaxing, using ice packs (a bag of frozen peas or a bag of niblets corn work great) two or three times daily for 15 minutes to reduce swelling. Speedy recovery!

Shouldn’t. : I wouldn’t expect a left sided hernia to cause a right sided pain.
