Everyone knows that smoking is dangerous and eating fried food is bad for you but millions still do it. Std avoidance is more complicated than just providing information. Access to healthcare is a problem for many. Many schools avoid sex education and many families do not openly discuss sex at home.

Confidentiality: There is no reason to expect anything except complete confidentiality regarding your visit and your results from an std clinic.  
Be aware, however, that the centers for disease control and prevention require reporting for cases of hepatitis, gonorrhea or syphilis.  In those cases, your name will be provided to the health department to follow up on treatment for you and any partners.

Candida/yeast usually produce an itchy whitish discharge. Men likely develop urethral discharge with 1st 3, chancre with syphilis, warts with herpes. Test if in doubt.
