Take antibiotic: if painful take vibramycin (doxycycline) 100 mg bid if not allergic
neosporin cream is good

is it normal for a boil/infected follicle/ingrown hair to be really painful after trying to pop/scratch it (during the next day while wearing pants) or is more a characteristic of a herpes blister? didn't notice it before trying to pop it?

Not material: Either can be painful. Apply triple antibiotic ointment to the wound to prevent bacterial infection and/or treat existing infection.
Do not shave or otherwise delilate pubic area, it is not hygenic.
Get HPV and Covid vaccines.

Abscess: You are obviously worried or would not be asking this question. Go and have this seen and treated.  You might first try applying frequent moist heat treatments and see if it will open and drain, but if it becomes red, tender, larger, warm to touch see somebody asap.

Soaks and get help: If it is an infected ingrown hair or an infected cyst(more likely), you should see a surgeon who will place you on antibiotics and then lance or remove when ready . Meanwhile place warm soaks to the area; but do get checked!

No worry: Scratching your pregnant belly definitely won't hurt your baby. The baby is nicely insulated in the uterus and you would have to hit it pretty hard to hurt it. Your concern tells me what a good mom you are going to be. This is a lucky child.

Needs to be checked: A lump in perineum getting bigger needs to be checked
find a clinic near you where they can see you if you do not have jog or resources to pay
but either way it needs to be checked.

Infected &amp; ingrown: If you have ingrown hairs try not to wax, shave or pluck hairs until healed.  This can often heal without treatment. Your physician can prescribe medication to clear dead skin cells  (retinoids). Steroids may be used for significant inflammation &amp; antibiotics may be considered if the area has become infected.

Good Hygiene-surgery: See a good dermatologist or a surgeon to resect the infected area removing ingrown hair, the very good hygiene.Probably you will need some antibiotics foe a week.

Few days: If it does not drain after a few days i would see a dermatologist for an oral antibiotic.

: Would follow up with  MD/urgent care to get it removed if it bothers you.  Do not try to remove it yourself s it may get infected and that is a bigger issue
