I use: Immodium. Take 2 immodium for fisrt watery stool of day, then 1 with each subsequent watery stool. If stool becomes thick like pudding do not take any more immodium. Sometime tincture of opium is required but very rarely. Keep yourself well hydrated, by estimating the amount of output and drinking an equivalent amount of electrolyte solution like gatorade or one of the other sport drinks. Avoid ca.

Life style change: You will need to take care of the stoma and empty the pouch many times a day.stool that comes from your ileostomy is thin or thick liquid, or pasty, Foods you eat, medicines you take, and other things may change your stools..Liquid medicines may work better than solid.Enteric coated medicine will not absorb well. Chew your food. Drink extra fluids with electrolytes (sodium, potassium).

Consider the risks: The ileostomy bag is no obstacle to tanning, but remember that excessive UV exposure, such as in a tanning both or prolonged sun, can increase the chance of melanoma. The incidence is increasing rapidly in the US. Melanoma can make an ileostomy seem like a minor inconvenience.

Anything: You can still eat much of what you like; the colons job is to remove water.  So you may have to drink extra water to make of for your inability to collect it.  I think everyone should be on what i call an acid-free diet.  Check my website for details on that; but it is really a diabetic diet with no sodas, avoidance of toxins and supplementation.

Scope: Could be either from the prep, the passage of the scope along your colon wall or perhaps biopsy if done. These can irritate your colon and cause loose stool. I would anticipate this should improve in day or so.

Intestinal blockage: Food poisoning characteristically causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea but not intestinal obstruction. The latter is caused by tumor, chronic scarring from diverticulitis of the colon or by intestinal adhesions. Less common causes are intersusception, incarcerated hernia, or volvulus. Your surgeon is best qualified to tell you the cause of your obstruction and need for temporary colostomy.

Be seen: I would suggest you start with a fiber supplement, such as metamucil or fibercon, to see if it helps to form your stool, but you need to see your physician.  There are some medications that can help.  That said, having an ileostomy is problematic for this, as the colon is the main organ for reabsorbing water from fecal material.

Need to find cause: To treat any condition have to find the cause, if recent surgery will take some time for  the body to adapt, unusual to have pain, . You need to see your surgeon.

Northwest?: I live in the pacific northwest - i see some amount of this a lot.  Most move to places like florida and arizona to help this (until they get too hot).
