Possible causes: Yeast infections are due to a fungus called candida which is normally found in the vagina. However, if there is a lack of healthy vaginal bacteria it can lead to overgrowth of yeast. Some causes of overgrowth: antibiotics, ^ estrogen (pregnancy or some birth control pills), malfunctioning immune system, diabetes mellitus as well as friction against vaginal tissues (intercourse) and douching.

Yeast infections: Eating foods with yeast doesn't give you a yeast infection.  However, most foods that contain yeast are carbohydrates, breads, cakes, etc.  For people who are predisposed to diabetes or have diabetes, eating a lot of those foods can keep their blood sugar levels elevated.  That makes the yeast grow faster. In areas where yeast is already present, like under breasts, groin, vagina, it will overgrow.

No: Yeast infections usually are not caught from sex partners. Yeast is normal in the vagina, rectum, and on genital skin, and a new yeast infection means yeasts already present have grown to greater number, causing symptoms. Even if some infections were transmitted sexually, drinking "dark liquor" or anything else wouldn't make any difference. See your doctor if you think you have a yeast infection.

Not boyfriend: The problem of yest infections is not usually related to a partner...it's not an STD (sexually transmited disease) but rather an overgrowth of your own flora (yeast re everywhere). Have you taken any antibiotics lately ? (a common cause for yeast infections). It is important to ask if you are diabetic or have/know of any other medical conditions which might be related.

Pen and yeast inf.: The short answer is no. You can get a yeast infection if you take his penicillin. However, you can get a yeast infection just from having sex. The penicillin will have nothing to do with it unless you take the medication orally.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It is unlikely to be remnant of hymen or cancer. You may have mild prolapse of vaginal tissue. The proposed prolapse and yeast infections may be related. It would be useful to consult your gynecologist for an evaluation.

No: Vaginal yeast infections are common and primarily due to the moist environment, hormonal fluxuations, antibiotic therapy (etc.) your beer drinking is not causative.

i had a uti so i was put on cephalexin 500mg tid, in which caused me to get a yeast infection. the day before i finished the antibiotic i took 150mg of fluconazole. and then today i used the monistat 1 vaginal suppository. is that okay?

: You can do that although one dose of fluconazole alone should be effective for the yeast vaginitis. Take care.
