i've had diarrhea everyday for a month. what should i do?

See your doctor.: Most diarrhea resolves within a few days. When it does not, it needs to be worked up and analyzed as to its cause, so that the proper treatment can be performed. In the meantime, be sure to drink plenty of fluid to avoid dehydration. See your doctor soon, don't delay.

See an MD: Most self limited causes of diarrhea such as viral gastroenteritis and food poisoning will resolve in less than 1 week.  There are many causes of chronic diarrhea such as infections caused by giardia and cryprtosporidium-inflammatory bowel disease-malabsorption etc.  Get checked out.

Diarrhea: From your answer, I am taking for granted that you have no bleeding of fever.  It could be just a virus but you should avoid dairy for about 2 weeks as some infections can give you a short term lactose intolerance.  Try a BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce tea toast).  Avoid fresh vegetables and salads for a week.  If the problem persists, I would have your stool tested for possible parasites.

Time to see a doctor: Any stomach flu type of illness can have some nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, tummy pain, tummy cramps, fever, chills, sweating, dizziness, etc...  One person can have some or all of these symptoms. If symptoms are mild, they might go away in a day or two. Sometimes they can be severe or last a whole week, so a doctor's follow-up is helpful. It is time to see one's primary care doctor.

May be infection: You need to see a GI doctor, as you may have a bacterial infection and it needs to be treated before it gets worse.

TimeToGetAJob...: Did you work at a sewage treatment plant?Was it because you took too long a vacation swimming up the Ganges River?Has any friends or lovers  been ill lately?Are you prone to gastrointestinal manifestations of stress?Had anything similar in the past?Anyone in the near or distant family have Chrone's Disease or Uulcerative Colitis?If you answered 'No' to any of these questions,consult your doctor.

Acute diarrhea.: There are questions that need to be answered.  Could be inflammatory or infectious generally.  Have you been on antibiotics recently?  Did you eat anything undercooked or ill prepared or mishandled?  Have you been around anyone sick?  Any medical conditions you have or medications you take?  Could be many things - a consult with us would be a good idea.

If not improving: If your symptoms have lasted longer than three days that I would probably go get checked out. You may have a bacterial infection.

i had a historectamy a little over two weeks ago and ever since i had it. i've had diarrhea ..and its kinda to the point wear its getting raw and bleeding abit ..should i be worried or is this normal?

I presume you had: a vaginal hysterectomy; the incision is inside your vagina and is close to the rectum.  The loose stool usually associated with diarrhea can much more easily travel to the site of the incision and potentially cause an infection.  While not terribly unusual, it is not normal.  Please contact your surgeon; I believe she/he will want you to come in for an exam if there is "raw"ness and bleeding.

See your doctor: Diarrhea longer than a week may have many causes. Sometimes the virus which caused the illness damages the intestinal lining and it takes a few weeks to heal.  Other times protracted diarrhea is a symptom of a more serious illness. Your doctor can help you sort things out.
