Right choice: You need to get a relationship with a physician who takes time to explain and who you trust. Managing reflux is tricky. Finding a cause for nausea may be a challenge. Gluten enteropathy, Whipple's, and Crohn's are concerns but I'd ignore "pop" claims about that amoeba.

i am 5 weeks pregnant and i have really bad acid reflux and nausea. is there anything over-the-counter or prescribed that i can take?

Yes no medications: 5 wk pregnant , no medication that will get absorbed , simple antacids like myalata etc , milk to reduce acidity, ear more vegetables , have small meals, .

i have terrible acid reflux causing nausea and vomitting and i'm 38 weeks pregnant i have tried milk, zantac, (ranitidine) thumbs and nothing helps. normal?

It's miserable: Acid reflux is definitely miserable in pregnancy.  The good news is - it's going to end soon!  Pepcid and Zantac (ranitidine) are class B in pregnancy which is safe to use.  Ask your OB if they approve of you trying one of those medications.  Good luck!

Acid reflux: One in 5 americans complain of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (gerd). Gerd is an injury to the lining of the esophagus (e)  or symptoms caused by stomach acid (a) flowing back into the e. Many times, it occurs because a muscle between the stomach and e fails to contract when it should, allowing a to move back into the e. Severe gerd occurs when it's weak, see a GI physician for help.

i are a cereal bar before bed at 10 last night and have had acid reflux and nausea all the next day. is it down to this or something else? what to do?

Acid reflux: Your question is a bit confusing, but there are good treatments for acid reflux. Best to talk with your doctor about how to handle it. A trial of Omeprazole (prilosec) is a common starting point in the evaluation of reflux.

Chicken or egg?: Could be, however in some cases reflux may trigger anxiety.  See your doctor to be sure you get proper treatment.

Stomach pain: You may have bad reflux or ulcer. Reflux may get worse in the lying posture.  Xray probably not going to be diagnostic. Consult your doctor for exam and  get treated.

Worth an evaluation!: Gerd is common--present in about 70 million americans. As such, there are easy solutions if you have just symptoms. If however you have inflammation due to gerd, this can be progressive & needs to be controlled. Start with behavior & diet changes (see prior healthtap answers), add acid-blocker medications (either h2-blockers or ppi's). Get evaluated, especially if atypical, chronic &/or worsening.

does acid reflux in children cause nausea early in the day on a daily basis?

Possibly: Since they've been lying down all night, acid may may be slowly crawling up the esophagus. Also acid secretion tends to to peak at night. So early am nausea could be a sign of acid reflux.  But as with all health concerns, if it persists, see the pediatrician.

just came in from shoveling for an hour and having bad headtburn/reflux w/some nausea and it won't go away. can shoveling snow trigger acid reflux?

It's possible: With increased abdominal pressure through exertion associated  with shoveling. Take antacid and/or ppi- omeprazole. Take care!
