Absolutely not!: Your placenta is giving you A break! Just stay hydrated, get lots of sleep, eat healthily, take your prenatal containing iron and folic acid, and get your routine obstetric care, which is a multi-step process over the course of the pregnancy. No smoking, and no recreational drugs, period. I strongly advise total avoidance of alcohol, but that's a decision you need to make with your personal doc.

Vitamin B6: Keep crackers at your bedside.  Eat things with ginger in them.  Consider taking a B6 supplement.  You can use doxylamine which is an over the counter supplement.  Some women find relief with sea bands or accupuncture.  Finally, contact your doctor, there are prescription medications available.

Supplements: Otc vitamin b6 50mg twice daily with unisom twice daily may help relieve this. Otherwise there are a variety of medications your doctor can prescribe which can help as well.

Normal: Morning sickness can vary depending on your diet & other factors, & doesn't typically continue for the entire pregnancy. Every woman & every pregnancy is different; when it starts & when it quits can very widely. Personally, in my 1st pregnancy i started by 6 weeks, & ended at 7 months; with my 2nd, i only threw up 1 time in the entire pregnancy.

If you have morning: sickness you probably still have viable fetus. Consult to your Obstetrician about this .

Probably ok: As long as you are able to tolerate some food an liquids, it is likely to be ok.  Taking vitamin b6 3 times a day, using anti-nausea wrist bands (sea bands) can be helpful.  If you symptoms are worse, talk to your doctor.

Bad enough!: It can get bad enough to require hospitalization and IV fluids.

Sometimes : Can be very bad some people, call your OB dco u will need some type of meds , sometimes u need IV fluids or a zofran or Reglan (metoclopramide) sub-q pump if bad enouigh that is monitored by home jealth.

i take 2 sometimes 3 ondansetron 4mg pills everyday for my horrible morning sickness... is this bad for baby?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: Ondansetron is a class b drug and so is considered probably safe in pregnancy.  No studies have reported any birth defects.
