Any moment now...: If truly 40 weeks and 2 days, labor will happen when it happens, which is any day or any moment now.  Otherwise, the ob-gyn may induce labor or do a c-section.

Shunt.: Pregnancy is a physiologic shunt of blood through the placenta to the growing fetus. This requires the heart to pump additional blood per mnute, the thyroid gland to work overtime and the lungs to expel extra co2. The combination of the above changes, along with nausea, insomnia, mood swings and depressed immunity from hormonal effects all contribute to a feeling of fatigue that persists to term.

Fatigue in pregnancy: Pregnancy creates a much different hormonal state than when not pregnant.  Besides the extra weight and changes in the center of gravity which causes muscles not formerly much used to be strained, the production of progesterone by the ovary and later by the placenta creates the sensation of fatique almost constantly.  If you are tired now, wait until you chase around an infant !

Sure: But tiredness can be from many things like low sugar, low blood pressure, anemia, lung problems, sleep problems and so on. You can just get a pregnancy test over the counter and see if you are pregnant or not. If you can't afford that, you can go to planned parenthood and get one, usually for free. If you're not pregnant and feel that tired, you probably should see a doctor.

Yes: During the first trimester, women may feel extremely fatigued as they are experiencing hormonal changes related to the pregnancy. During the second trimester, most women have increase in energy and during the third trimester, fatigue may return as women sleep less because your body will experience the most change during this time. Always check with your doctor for anemia or other conditions.

Yes: Feeling fatigued during pregnancy is common, especially in the 1st and 3rd trimesters.  Although many women have more energy mid-pregnancy that is not always the case.  Before accepting constant fatigue as normal, you should discuss with your caregiver and make sure medical conditions such as anemia, thyroid disease, and diabetes have been ruled out and that you are eating and sleeping optimally.
