95-105 when u wakeup: Normal bloodsugar after fasting overnight is 95-105.  One hour after a meal should be less than 140. Two hours after a meal your bloodsugar should be less than 120.

Not a problem: Hopfully you are not eating lots of salty food. Living in hot climate will certainly require increase fluid intake.

Yes: Stress causes the adrenal glands to produce cortisol, which elevates blood sugar.  Many people with diabetes don't notice much fluctuation in their blood sugar with varying levels of stress, but some do. Stress management is important for all of us, but even more so for diabetics and for pregnant women (and for pregnant women with diabetes).

No: Sugar fluctuations are a part of life. Continue taking your medications and continue to track your blood sugar. You should be concerned only if the sugar elevations are persistent.

: Try and continue to keep your sugar in contol most of the time during pregnancy. The type of food you eat is important so let that be the focus. Avoid sugars and simple carbohydrates and eat more vegetables to control the sugar. Avoid cravings that could lead to eating hightly sweetened food and do not stress out it would make it worse. The values you have above are acceptable.

Blood sugar: It probably doesn't mean anything serious. Just that you need to eat a small meal every 2 to 3 hours. But check with your physician if this doesn't help.  Good luck!

Gestational diabetes: Please have your obstetrician refer you to an endocrinologist to put you on the right track. Not a difficult move but quite necessary.

Depends on guideline: Fasting blood sugar is usually under 100 and the one hour test should usually be less than 165 depending upon whose guidelines your physician uses.

i had gestational diabetes and afterwards my fasting sugars in the morning were right around 100. is that enough to put me on metformin ?

Accepted Answer

Possibly : This depends on your physician. If you have impaired fasting glucose, your hba1c may be abnormal and should be checked.  You may also be asked to check some fasting and 2-hr post prandial glucoses before medication is considered.
