Just a little: The active ingredient, hydroxyzine is the same in both formualtions, though the salt, pamoate or hydrochloride (hcl), to which it is attached is different. The pamoate comes as a capsule and the hydrochloride is a tablet. The release mechanism into the body is different between the two and therefore one may work better than the other for certain individuals.

?: 4 Times-a-Day (qid) or Every 6 Hours? Qid means while you're awake, vs every 6 hours, meaning on-the-hour, whether awake or not. So in  qid , take it before retiring, once you wake up, and spread the two other doses over the day. At any rate your doctor/pharmacist would inform you better, and hydroxyzine is usually three times a day, might cause sedation, so don't drive or operate machinery

Depends: The basic principle in medicine is to give the lowest dose needed to achieve the objective. Some people can take 100mg of  hydroxyzine without problem , others just 10 mg would knock them out.  Usually the drowsiness effects tend to decline with time.  I prefer to start patient on 10 mg first then work it up over a week until the desired effect has been reached without causing side effects .
