Accepted Answer

Unlikely: The anti-inflammatory effect of this mild steroid cream is helpful and well tolerated by the skin. It is often used in this way for extended periods. Higher potency steroids might produce some tissue thinning, but this is not the case with 1%hc. It is hyped as "the strongest otc" steroid, but is actually one of the mildest ones we use.

No more than 5-7: after which your symptoms should be gone: I also recommend sitz baths 3-4 times daily with 1-2 lbs of epsom salts in 4-8 inches of warm water for 10-15 minutes.

I would not: that's for external usage. anoderm and hemorrhoids are not exactly external. and chronic usage can thin out the skin. use a prep for hemorrhoids.

Yes: however if your symptoms do not resolve after 2 wks, i would see your Dr to determine the cause.  There are several causes:  hemorrhoids, pinworms etc. Hydrocortisone may help the itch, but not treat the cause!

: The cause needs to be ascertained, e.g., you may have pinworm infection that would require very different treatment from these symptoms being due to hemorrhoids or anal fissure. It would be prudent to consult your doctor.

when use HC cream?: Hydrocortisone cream is very mild and is used by prescription for hemorrhoids both internally and externally. So, it could be safe. However, if instead of hemorrhoids, the person using it has heat rash and intertigo, i.e., a candida yeast infection, it could make the infection worse and not help at all. Best to have your family doctor take a look before using it there. Tricky spot.

Raw Skin: The best medication to use is a prescription called vytone cream or dermazine. These products have a 1% Hydrocortisone cream and an iodine deravitive which can treat bacteria, yeast and fungus. The problem you have is you do not know if this a also a bacterial infection.

Many diseases: Itching of the anus has many causes: hemorrhoids, excessive cleaning habits, anal warts, anal cancer, dermatitis and allergic reactions, fecal incontinence, food related (from spicy food, soda, chocolate), and many other diseases. If your symptoms persist, you should see a colorectal surgeon to examine the anus and if there is any lesion it may need biopsy or other treatments.

burning&itching in folds of buttocks around anus and burning in area in contact with underwear from downward.used hydrocortisone for a week and zinc oxide for 3 weeks improved a little then returned .it's been more than 3 months and getting worse?
