Age/situation/US: The DX of hydrcoels are rather easy to separate from testicular cancer by physical exam with an ultrasound (sonar) study of the scrotal contents as a backup. I see it frequently in infants when tc is not generally an issue. Giver this is your concern you should discuss it with your physician. Self DX of a life altering issue is not prudent.

Yes: Hence the need for a scrotal ultrasound in post-pubertal  males with hydroceles to rule out a testis tumor.

Scrotal ultrasound: Will provide the answer. Unless hydrocele is soft enough for you to palpate an otherwise normal testicle. Your primary care Dr. can order it for you, or visit a urologist who performs office ultrasound examinations

Different entities: I'm glad the original testicular cancer is history. If you've had a good imaging study and there's no testicular cancer on the right, i would not worry about the hydrocele -- these are extremely common. You're correct to believe that a second primary in the opposite testis is somewhat more common than random chance. Ask your physician about banking sperms. Good luck.

Very,very unlikely: Of course you need to have a scrotal ultrasound, to rule out tumor in remaining testicle.

Checkups: If I were you, for peace of mind, I would simply schedule a yearly checkup with a urologist. Testicular ultrasound examinations may be occasionally ordered.

Your doctor can guid: Testicular cancer is initially treated with surgery. Chemotherapy may be added if there is any indication of spread into the abdomen which is where these tumors can initially go. Chemotherapy is highly effective and curative in over 90% of the cases. Good luck.

Lets treat Hypochond: You have to trust your test results and your treating doctor. If you do not, then we need to treat your hypochondriasis. Testicular cancer is not a subtle condition. It will produce a growth in the testicle which you can feel with your hands (bigger than the other testicle) and ultrasound will show it up  easily. So just relax, think of better things to do than worry(you should wait to worry!).
