Not really: you want to call or see your doctor, meanwhile, continue your insulin regimen according to the sliding scale you have. The shot you received is probably a steroid shot, which can raise your blood sugar, it may stay for sometime if it is a long acting steroid. You need to go to the ER if you are not doubt, have serious symptoms of very high or low blood sugar, wish you well

No: Zantac (ranitidine) is a histamine 2 receptor reverse agonist and would not significantly affect histamine production.when withdrawn.  There is a theoretical possibility that Zantac (ranitidine) itself may lead to more histamine release by blocking the histamine 2 receptor(which acts as a feedback switch)  but this has not been clinically a significant issue.

I don't think so: To my knowledge there are no commercially available kits for home measurement of Insulin allergy or resistance.

The manufacturer: Otherwise they are similar and function almost exactly the same way. They are, however, both old fashioned, out of date, and have been replaced by better insulins such as Lantus (insulin glargine) (glargine).

U 500 insulin. : You may have a problem due to insulin antibodies?  Discuss with your team.  Check your glucose meter.

Brand name : Humulin is a brand of Insulin manufactured by the lilly company. Within that name brand are different formulations of Insulin which include humalog, (insulin lispro) regular, and nph. Additionally a variety of mixed insulins are available.

Humulin: Humulin is the marketed name by Eli Lilly and Company. Both are biosynthetic human insulin.
Humulin N, is neutral protamine hagedorn (NPH), an intermediate-acting insulin, has an onset of 1-3 hours, peak of 8 hours and duration of 12 to 16 hours. 
Humulin R is Regular insulin, a short-acting insulin, has an onset of 30 to 60 minutes, a peak of 2-4 hours, and a duration of 5-8 hours.

Humalog/humulin: Please go online to "www.drugs.com" and search for humalog (insulin lispro) and humulin.

Humalog is rapid acting.
Humulin R is short acting.

Should be . . .: Novolin (insulin) n and Humulin N are just two different brands of Insulin nph w/onset in 1-2hrs, peak in 4-14hrs & duration of 10->24hrs. Therefore, your body might notice some differences even though theoretically they're the same. Ask your family doc or endocrinologist before switching. S/he may want to change the frequency of your self-checks. Ps if you're ever unsure, ask your doctor!
