hello drs i was diagnosed with hpv today. im vaccinated. we are sad and stressed how do we live with this? we have kids. obgyn wains blame husband. we feel gross and it has really stressed our lives. husband has low strain hpv. condoms? we are faith?

: There are a large number of strains of HPV and most of those are harmless. Do not stress over this. Condom does not fully protect against HPV. Get PAP tests as recommended by your doctor and do not lose sleep over it. Blaming one party or the other is not useful.

i had sex with someone who has hpv and condom broke. can i still get it after only one time? too afraid of getting it to do it again

HPV: As with other viral infections like HIV, its thought that multiple exposures is the rule.  This is not to say it can't be transmitted after just one exposure though.  It depends now on the type of sex.  Was it with a man or woman.  Were you insertive or receptive?  You can have an anal PAP to monitor for that.  Guardicil is a series of shots that can prevent initial infection alltogether.

Condoms and HPV: Condoms are not 100% effective at stopping transmission of hpv. Please get the vaccine!

It's your choice: Almost everybody has a few strains of HPV. Even the dangerous strains produce only lesions that are manageable if detected early -- with a woman's pap smear and a man simply keeping an eye on himself, the danger to life is minimal. Many couples like condoms, but if you're monogamous and dislike them, it's really your decision.

: Using a condom prevents 99% of STD'S and HIV. HPV is spread from skin to contact. If she is HPV positive than any kissing or close body contact, than HPV can be possibly spread to  you.

i did my pepsmear in 2017, there was no hpv that came back with the results. is it possible to get hpv while using a condom?

: Please discuss the results with the provider who did the PAP smear. In 2017 did they check for HPV ?  not always is that checked on PAP, you have to specify.

HPV can also be in the mouth and other parts not covered by condom and transmitted through other activities.

Not 100%, but: Otherwise very effective, unless partner has hpv lesions on scrotum &/or bas of penis.

Not useful: Condoms are not protective against hpv.  About 90% of the women manage to clear the hpv infection.  You should consult your doctor about checking to see if you have active infection or has it cleared.
