Why ?: Genital warts come from 2 main and 2 less common strains. None are associated with cancer. A limited number of research labs could test your blood for antibodies to specific strains if you are obsessed with the idea. I would consider it a waste of time and resources.

: You should be checked by a proctologist or surgeon  to make sure you dont have any warts. Hpv, if you have it does not clear up by itself.

Sounds like: you have hemorrhoids causing your lower GI bleeding and the lump may represent a clotted hemorrhoid.

HPV causes cancer: Yes- in fact there are more than 100 strains of HPV -and a few of them cause cancer. That can be cervical cancer, anal cancer, or some other cancers (like head and neck). The good news is there is a vaccine for HPV that helps prevent some of this from happening. Although the age indication goes up to 26, you should talk to your doc - if you have a lot of risk factors, you might benefit from it.

: It is not a routine test in most Countries, unless for research purposes. You are better off getting the HPV vaccines. HPV usually would present with warts earlier than with cancer.

Months to years: The large majority of anal HPV infections do not lead to cancer. When it happens, it can be anywhere from a few months to 30 years or more.

: It would be wise for a patient to have an anal HPV test especially if practicing anal intercourse, have HIV or are immune compromised. Regular anal "pap" smears can be done at the same time as vaginal pap smears. Oral testing does not become positive unless there is a lesion already, so no need to do oral HPV tesing, best to just examine for lesions in the oral area.

About the same: Probably about the same for either cervical or anal HPV. For both, cancer can develop as soon as a few months or not for 20 or more years.

3 causes.: One cause of genital warts outbreaks in men and women is a weakened immune system. To strenghten avoid stress, do not smoke, drink , use drug and take enough sleep. Another possible cause of outbreaks is a poor diet. If your diet is poor take a multivitamin a day. It is believed that foods containing high amounts of arganine may trigger outbreaks of genital warts. Avoid this king food.
