Both: Genitla warts can return. The described symptoms can also be consistent with genital herpes.  Seeing yout gyn clinician can determine this.

Can help: The HPV family of viruses have the ability to hibernate in your tissue and return to a symptomatic phase at some point in the future. Whether you burn/freeze or cut the warts off, there may be virus hiding at other locations that will emerge in the future. It may also be one &amp; done, since some do not experience recurrence.

STD: Hpv (human papilloma virus) is a sexually transmitted disease.  It typically is without symptoms.  However, many strains of the virus are linked to cervical dysplasia and cancer.

Hello. : Hello. If it is in fact a new strain (not a recurrence) than it would have to be transmitted from someone. If you have been monogamous, then it may well have come from your partner (unless you had an infected partner previously). Even if a condom is used, some small lesions which aren't readily visible, can still come in contact with skin which isn't covered by the condom.

NO: The vast majority of HPV infections clear within 2 years and once it is cleared then you can not spread it, just as when you get the flu once you are over it you can't spread it.

Several suggestions: If HPV has been inactive it could be activated technically, though no studies have been done to show this. So, first have your OB-GYN do a thorough exam including a PAP smear, and  if negative have the PAP smear repeated regularly. Second call the Enbrel (etanercept) nurse on call for recent reports or changes.* Enbrel (etanercept) is an important RA treatment so stick with it. Alternatives  same problem.*1-888-436-2735.

Gardasil indications: Merck, the vaccine manufacturer, recommends vaccination for people age 9-26 for prevention of some of the strains of HPV that cause genital warts and certain cancers.  It will not treat the infection if it has already been transmitted, but may offer protection from getting infected with other strains.

It gives protection: Getting 2 HPV shots offers good protection against the strains fo HPV that cause genital warts, cervical cancer, or anus cancer. One can ask her primary care doctor if a third dose of vaccine is needed. If unsure, it is usually fine to go ahead and get a third dose. A third dose should increase one's antibody levels for better and longer-lasting protection.
