No magic: I'm not sure that there is a magic answer but hot will cause vasodilatation and "opening of the pores" with possible sweating allowing Eli nation of superficial deposits

Unfortunately no: But you make a good point in that generally, it's best to go with the most mild form of treatment that is effective for how severe your acne is. For acne treatment, we generally target three things: cleansing pores of oil and debris, treating inflammation, and protecting the skin with non-oil based lotions and sunblock. Hope this helps

Depends: Do you have oily or dry skin.  There is no right answer to this question,  but what feels right to you.  Oily skin
can be washed more often and even can use hot water.
Dry skin needs to be washed less often and use milder soaps, warm water.  In winter wash less often than in summer or hot weather.  I think warm water is usually better unless you have really oily skin.

Excema: Only her face, not her whole body?Never bath with anti-bacterial soaps such as protex, Dettol or lifeboy.This destroys your own flora that protects your skin.What facial wash is she using? Moisturizing very important for excema.Suggest Epimax Oatmeal twice daily. Wash with Cetaphil restoraderm that is developed for atopic dermatitis.

Skin care: Depends on what you want out of washing your face.  Natural oils serve to protect our skin, keep bacteria from infecting us, and generally protect us from the elements (cold, wind, rain, etc).  Sometimes people overproduce and need to reduce skin oils, so they need to use soaps.  If you go that route, mild is best - cetaphil, hypoallergenic soaps, etc.  Gentle wash with water is good otherwise.

Dry skin: You may be simply drying your skin out and further clogging your pores with the cleanser, or you may be allergic to a component in it.  Wash your face with soap and water and a means of removing dead skin (wash cloth, etc), and keep your skin moist.  This should keep your skin feeling both clean and avoid acne.

Probably: It sounds like you are exfoliating some dead skin.  However, some facial products that act like masks can rub off in the same way...

Yes: If not washing your face helps your skin then stop. I have had patients state the use only water for years. It is completely safe and sanitary.

Accepted Answer

Water's fine: Warm water and if dirty, mild soap is all you usually need.  Salicylic acid and its derivatives are keratolytics (agents which cut through skin cells and can thin the skin, reduce the size of calluses and the like).  Skin normally sheds on its own--half of household dust is human skin!
