Having Gonorrhea: An infection takes time to get better.  I often see my patients become symptom free from their treatment for gonorrhea (which now a days has to be a shot and not with pills) in 48 to 72 hours.

Probably unnecessary: Standard injection treatment for gonorrhea (ceftriaxone) is nearly 100% effective; retesting soon after treatment is not recommended, unless you still have symptoms (discharge, uncomfortable urination, low abdominal pain if you're female, etc). But do get retetested after 3-4 months, recommended for all people with gonorrhea or chlamydia, to check for rare treatment failures and new infections.

i had got the shot to treat gonorrhea, then 8 days later started the antibiotics orally i finished my antibiotics and had unprotected sex on the last day of my treatment (the 7th day) it was 2 hours away from being the 8th day did i infect my partner?

: Little or no risk. You were unable to transmit gonorrhea within 24 hours of the shot. The second antibiotic (doxycycline) was to treat chlamydia, which commonly accompanies gonorrhea. That too is cured within the first few days and cannot be transmitted after a week or so. Of course if you were having sex with he same partner before, no sex until and unless he also has been treated. Good luck.

hi i just wanted to know if the antibiotic bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) will treat gonorrhea or chlamidya?

Basically no.: Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (bactrim) is ineffective against chlamydia and there is a wide range of antibiotics that can be given for gonorrhea, but Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is not one of them. Since some gonorrhea is resistant to antibiotics, only a physician can determine which one to use. Recommended therapy for chlamydia is Doxycycline or Azithromycin with fluorinated quinolones also effective.

tested negative(but also treated w/ ceftraxione inj and azithro) for gonorrhea/chlaym 4 weeks ago. now on bactrim ds for epididtymitis, would a retest to make sure i'm 100% std free be skewed by my current antibiotics & result in inaccurate results?

Ok to retest: After three weeks, a repeat test for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can reassure you that you don't have these infections, however men typically don't get tested for other STDs that you may still have, such as Hep C, HIV, Herpes, Syphilis, Trichomonas, and HPV. Make sure your testing is thorough and get the HPV vaccine.

Chlamydia test: Your doctor can do a repeat chlamydia test. This is a much better way of confirming successful treatment than a gram stain. I would ask the doctor about E. Faecalis culture. Find out exactly what was cultured and if treatment is warranted

: Then you use alternate antibiotics. Antibiotic resistant strains emerge with many germs over time. Lab testing identifies both which strains are resistant, and which alternate antibiotic (s) would be an effective treatment.

Depends on how long: Duration of cure depends on how long the person has had the infection.If the infection has not spread to the cervix or the urethra it will clear in two days of starting the treatment..But if the infection has spread it may take several days or weeks for gonorrhea to cure.
Most of the times without complications it will bw cured in 2 days after starting the treatment.
