You can start anytim: You are likely to get more irregular bleeding in the first month of taking the pills, if you start mid-cycle, and (of course) you are not protected during the period you describe (b/c if you ovulated, then there is an egg available to be fertilized, so you need the back up method for the first month after starting the pill).
Regardless of when you start taking it.

Not likely: Atlhough the oral contraceptives may not be providing protection yet, a properly used condom is. However, condoms are not 100% effective. So never say never.

Likely early period: It's likely that you will have some bleeding==or an early period.  It's not otherwise harmful, but you should expect bleeding.  If you still need birth control, you should switch to another method rather than just stopping.

Can I be Pregnant?: It is most likely that you are not. But, i believe the bcps come with a warning to make sure you protect from pregnancy during the first month on pills.

Choices: If the pills were prescribed to make menses predictable, rather than erratic you can certainly stop them &amp; face menses when/ if it decides to flow. If you don't ever want children, you can have a hysterectomy or other procedures to quit having menses. You may want to read up on your options &amp; discuss them with your doc.

No, the pills are : out of your system in about 4 or 5 days after stopping them.  Other issues that affect your hormones, polycystic ovarian syndrome/insulin resistance for example, are likely related at this point.

Sunday start: Take your first pill on the sunday immediately follolwing the onset of your period. Most pills give you the option of a sunday start or starting on the fifth day of your cycle. Sunday is an easy day to remember every cycle so it is frequently recommended. Remember to use back-up protection (condoms) for the first cycle.

i am an extreme emetophobic, and i need to start birth control pills. is there any side effects to really worry about?

Take at night...: Take your pills at night with a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) tab to avoid nausea and dizziness.  Unschedueled bleeding is another minor side effect, and while uncommon, blood clots in the legs and pelvis are a more serious side effect.  If you have a family history of DVT (blood clots) let your doctor know before you take pills.
