IVF vs Surgery: Most people will need surgery (tubal anastomosis) or in vitro fertilization (ivf) in order to conceive after having tied the tubes. If you do conceive without surgery or ivf you have a high risk for a tubal or ectopic pregnancy, which can be dangerous.  Please see a reproductive endocrinologist for expert advice on conceiving if your tubes are tied.
