i get a pain just above my anus i feel it when i am sitting for more than 5 minutes and it makes it difficult to stand. i think its my tailbone but i am not sure , its been a week now and i thought it would go away but it hasnt ?

Tailbone pain: It can certainly be a tailbone pain. Is it associated with any other problems related to bladder or bowel. Any recent trauma. Would recommend getting examined. Can use heat packs regularly if tailbone pain, should help.

can a tailbone that is too long and too close to the anus damage the anus/sphincter?
i think mine is dangerously close. 
and if so, how can it be cured?

Coccyx: The coccyx, the cartilaginous structure at the end of the sacrum can theoretically impede the passage of stool through the rectum and may require surgical removal. However I would consider this a rare circumstance. If you have concerns or if having difficulty passing stool,consult a proctologist or a colorectal surgeon for evaluation and advice.

Contact dermatitis: contact derm is a possibility secondary to certain type of underwear/thong or work out clothing. would see dermatologist if continues or worsens.

Need to be seen: By a colon and rectal surgeon as chronic [osterior anal fissure may get infected and end up as a deep post anal space abscess, causing tail bone pin. This needs to be drained surgicall and sooner rather than later.

Possibly: Without an exam, it is hard to say for sure. But yes anal fissures can cause pain near the tailbone.

May be pilonidal: A pilonidal sinus is a small hole, that may lead to a tiny tunnel, in the skin. It is usually at the cleft of the buttocks where they separate at the top. Showering each day helps keep the area clean, but there is nothing else to do for it unless the pilonidal sinus becomes infected. Then, it is treated with antibiotics and sometimes needs surgery to remove a cyst that has formed under the hole.

tailbone, not hip: It can cause pain in the area of the coccyx (tailbone) but not true hip pain.

Exclude hemorrhoids: Rare diagnoses are rarely correct. Chordoma is an uncommon tumor. It would be prudent to rule out hemorrhoids, that seem to be able to explain your symptoms, before considering other diagnoses.

i noticed a small lump under the skin near my anus, between the anus and my tailbone. it's painless and i only notice it when i squat down.

Lump near anus: If it is at the very base of your spine it MAY be a pilonidal cyst.  It MAY be another type of cyst or something else.  You have the courage w/in you to see your doc and get it taken care of.  Then you will  have peace of mind.  Please do so. Peace and good health.
