Heat: Often a "boil" will drain itself if warm moist soaks are used to soften the skin.  Drainage is by far the best method of treatment, medications rarely are effective.

Heat: I typically tell my patients to put a cup of uncooked rice into a sock.  Tie off the end of the sock & place in the microwave on high for 1 minute. Rice is a terrific insulator of heat. Apply the sock to the boil for 5 seconds and pull away once it gets too hot. Repeat the process for a total of 20 minutes.  Perform 3-4x/day until it resolves. If it continues to worsen, go to the er.

Certainly could be: allergy related, but boils always make me think of staph superinfection. see dermatologist for culture diagnosis and treatment

Warm salt water: To help the abcess drain, rinse with warm salt water.  A tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water and rinse several times during the day.  However it is necessary to see your dentist to treat the problem.

Boil Treatment: If there are concerns about the seriousness of the infection, additional blood tests will be performed. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics to take if the infection is severe.
