Individual: Depends on the extent of the fracture, the location and pain.  Probably 4 weeks would allow some swimming.  These can heal quickly and if "cracked" but not through and through or displaced, you may get in sooner.  Do not do any activity unless approved by your doctor.  Don't be a pain in the neck and don't swim away from your responsibilities!

Clavicle is a strut: The clavicle is the only connection the scapula (and the rest of the arm) has to the rest of the skeleton.  The clavicle acts as a strut to keep the scapula in the proper position.  A shortened clavicle from a break can cause the scapula to become hunched forward, affecting its mobility.

Trauma: Any trauma to the chest or a fall on an outstretched arm can lead to a fracture.  If there is any disease that weakens the bone, e.g. Cancer or osteogenesis imperfecta, it can fracture more easily, but some sort of force still needs to be applied to break it.  This is called a pathological fracture.  A clavicle does not break without having some sort of force applied to it through abuse or injury.

: I guess it is possible, but why? The plates are usually placed to fixate the broken bone are are not usually designed to be removed. Removal may do more harm than good, not counting the cost, the pain, or the risks. Discuss your options with a local surgeon and your physician.

at 6-8 wks your fracture , if it is a reasonably simple one , should be solid enough for day to day activities but no rough stuff
that would be ok around 5-6 months as i told you before   full remodeling is a 2 year thing 
take vit d it helps with the healing  as i said before 1000iu/25#body wt   good luck be careful/ discuss with your doctor.

Broken Clavicle: Level of activity after a broken clavicle depends on several factors. How displaced was the fracture and how much healing is evident in x-rays? Pain is an important indicator of recovery, but it's important to have a sense of how your fracture is healing. You should be working on elbow, wrist and gentle shoulder exercises immediately after the injury to keep them from getting stiff.

Follow Dr advice: Follow your doctor's advice , ice is not going to help you in healing , if pain is subsiding  with it use it , make sure go for follow up visit.
