i've noticed certain foods give me diarrhea for a day or 2, then mucus & sometimes v.slight bright string of blood, then fine.what can i expect at dr?

I think there may be: a couple of explanations. You may have been exposed to a food bacteria experiencing only mild symptoms of food poisoning. OR your mucus/mildly bloody stool could be an allergic reaction to the food. Either case suggests a visit/evaluation by your Doctor. Expect stool cultures, possibly blood work. I would put my money on recurring food allergy/sensitivity which, hopefully, tests will identify.

Usually doesn't: Agree with earlier comments about spread of germs in buffets and checking for cleanliness. Having lived in Taiwan - I can say that average Chinese food doesn't usually lead to loose stools.

our 2 1/2 baby last night was throwing up and this morning has diarrhea. what can we give him to stop it. he ate indian food the second night in a row. first night had no issues with it.
can we give him ammodium?

There : There are no safe medications for young children with vomiting and diarrhea.  Medicines such as immodium have been shown to make diarrhea last longer that it would with no medicine.  The most important thing you can do is make sure he stays hydrated with the illness runs its course.

Things you can do for him are:

-do not give juice (which can worsen diarrhea) but give oral rehydration solutions such as pedialyte. 
-continue a regular diet 
-watch for diaper rash 
-change diapers frequently and use a barrier diaper cream

call your child's doctor if:

-the diarrhea lasts longer than 7 days 
-for blood or mucus in the stool 
-fever 
-signs of dehydration such as no urine in 8 hours, dry, cracked lips, doughy skin, no tears, sunken eyes, irritability or lethargy.

i had stomach flu a week ago. i felt better but now eating heavy foods gives me hot flashes (pre-diarrhea) and diarrhea 2x in past week. why?

Post flu: It is not uncommon after the flu to have a change and Bowel movements which can be normal. If the diarrhea is Green please consult with us to get a antibiotic potentially.

i have a flu. taking z pack and tamiflu (oseltamivir). dont know if meds or food giving me diarrhea and nausea. shud i take something for this or stop either meds?

Why you taking the: Z-pack? Was it prescribed by a doctor? The flu is a virus. A z-pack is an antibiotic and is only helpful for a bacterial infection. It will not help a virus, but it can give you diarrhea. If it was prescribed by a doctor talk to them before deciding if you should stop the z-pack. If it was not prescribed by a doctor then stop the z-pack and don't self medicate with antibiotics in the future.

Maybe malabsorption : You may have a malabsorption syndrome. A good gastroenterologist can help you find out.

It's safe: It's safe to give rice cereal to a5 month old. It may or may not help with the diarrhea.

Find the cause: Millions and millions of people enjoy spice without either stomach pain or diarrhea.  Do you have an ulcer?  Do you have reflux (where stomach acid abnormally comes up into the tube between your stomach and your throat, causing a burn)?  Do you eat the spice in a bowl of greasy, fat filled or fried food, instead of over roasted lean meats or vegetables?  Find the cause to make it better.

my 21 month old son has 3 loose stools a day his dr said to give him gatorade but is there anything else i can do for him? food to avoid etc?

Diarrhea?: Would need more history, but you should discuss again with the doctor seeing him and ask if they feel that exam of a stool specimen might be of value. If no further helpful comments might consider getting a second opinion. Hope the little guy is better soon. Best wishes.

i am getting diarrhea, and food does not seem to be a cause. this goes on and off randomly throughout the week. what should i do?

Maybe: Diahrrea means there is too much water content in the stool. It is frequently infectious but at times it is not. Make sure you clean and dry hands carefully b4 eating. Use Purell. Eat BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast) to help firm up stool. Take Loperide (Imodium) to slow down peristalsis.
