Should work fine: I usually try to mix it in whatever quantity of milf I'm sure the kid will drink at one setting. If they can predictably take only 4 oz, that's what I use.Add it to too much milk and it may take all day to get it down them.

It's safe: If this is just a one time thing for a few days, usually just some extra fluids and/or juice. If it is a long term problem, then some diet changes with less milk products and more fiber needed. In addition, a product called MiraLAX (generic peg or polyethylene glycol) used on a routine basis is helpful. It is very safe and not an addicting laxative - just helps attract more water into the stool.

Odd worry: Nothing in mirilax is absorbed into the kids system.It works as a osmotic hydrater and prevents the gut wall from extracting too much fluid from the stool, leaving it moist.It stays in the gut until eliminated. It was used  as a prescription med for more than a decade before its safety profile allowed release to general use.

Constipation tx: Your medicine will both slow, the gut and may cause loss of water from stool, both causing constipation. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) will draw water in the bowel as an osmotic agent. You may also need a push to the system. Ue fresh summertime fruits or dried fruits such as peaches, , apricots, cherries, and prunes which will solve the problem.

NONE: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is too strong to give to your two week old son. Try instead to supplement with a little water 2 ounces twice daily or you can add 1 tsp of dark karo syrup to 2 bottles per day.

Constipation: Increasing water intake and increasing fiber intake are good ideas.  You can give 1/2 of the dose of Miralax, but why not try something a little more child friendly?  There are fiber gummies, or my personal favorite, Bush's baked beans.  Half cup a day.
