See your OB: You dont need to ovulate to have spotting, and vaginal bleeding, if light, can happen normally at any day of the cycle. If heavy, dysfunctional bleeding needs to be evaluated for other possible causes, and a trip to the OB wiuld be well advised. The differential for dysfunctional bleeding is too long for this answer, please see an OB ASAP if the bleeding is heavy

: Menstrual cycle may vary. Acute sickness, extreme stress, etc. may cause period delay. Chance of pregnancy is extremely low after tubal ligation but it does rarely occur. If your partner has any doubt just do an early morning urine test to rule out pregnancy after 5 days of a missed period. For middle-aged woman, cycle could change drastically (long or short) when approaching pre-menopausal time.
