Accepted Answer

Give it time.: The nausea associated with the birth control pill is often due to the estrogen. This should go away after a month or so. If after 3 months you are still having problems then it makes sense to change pills to a lower estrogen dose or consider an alternative.
You can also try taking the pill at a different time of the day, such as before bed time or taking the pill with some food.

i've been having morning nausea and on and off spotting for the last week, i'm currently taking birth control pills, is it possible i could be pregnant?

Not likely: If a woman has been taking her birth control pills correctly, every day about the same time each day, then it would be unlikely for her to get pregnant.  If she missed or was late for pills then pregnancy is possible, and it's worth getting a pregnancy test.  If you are concerned check a pregnancy test - if negative check with your clinic.

Neither: Oral contraceptive tolerance is trial and error.   There's no evidence that one combination or dosage causes fewer side-effects then the other.   The side-effects you mention are very common but don't typically last more then three months on a new contraceptive.

Soon: If you inadvertantly took two b.C. Pills in one day, you may be nauseated, but hopefully you will not do it again. The nausea should wear off by 24 hours later when you need to take your next pill. This will cause you to be one short at the end of you pack, but just remember to restart a new pack on the next scheduled start date.

Sometimes: Some women get nausea with birth control - often this gets better if they stay on the medication and it slowly resolves, but some women have continued issues with this.  Often taking either in the morning or at bedtime may minimize this.   You will have to see how it affects you - i also have patients who never have any issues with this.

i took 2 birth control pills about an hour apart from each other because i realised i forgot to take one the day before. now i feel really nauseous, is that from taking the extra pill? when will the nausea where off? now im worried?

BCP ?'s: Taking "two bcp's within an hour" may cause mild nausea, but nausea from low dose oral bcp's currently utilized is probably not related to what is described.  Missing one active bcp will not result in pregnancy, but not starting the active pills within seven days of taking the  placebos can allow pregnancy. If the nausea persists, obtain a serum HCG test, if pregnancy is possible.

Take pregnancy test: First, take a pregnancy test to confirm not pregnant. Some women stop having periods on certain birth control pills. Some women also tend to have nausea when on birth control pills. If you are not pregnant, you should talk to your doctor about your symptoms and consider changing your birth control.

UTI &amp; low dose pills: The urinary frequency may be due to a urinary tract infection(UTI) unrelated to the use of the pill. Low dose contraceptives do not produce dizziness nor water retention. Nausea can be a problem if the pill is taken on an empty stomach in some individuals. Have a MD evaluate you for a UTI.

Not documented: Oral contraceptives can be absorbed vaginally, but the efficacy of this method or side effects have not been documented.
