i have a migraine the only thing that works is excedrin migraine. is it ok to take excedrin migraine then have a few glasses of wine, im having a bbq.

Tough question: Since alcohol and likely wine in particular tend to trigger migraine, you are asking whether taking excedrin migraine prophylactically would prevent a migraine. Theoretically it is possible but there is no clear answer until you have tried it. Limiting your wine intake to less than 2 glasses along with food intake will enhance the chance of success.

MOH: Medication overuse headache which results from the repetitive and chronic use of headache abortive medications for three months or more, is a major cause of chronic daily headache affecting 1-2% of the general population. Research studies have shown that as few as 15 single doses a month of a Acetaminophen could be sufficient to cause moh.

Possibly the flu: The symptoms you are describing are unusual for butalapap. More likely you have the actual flu, as it is flu season and your symptoms sound just like the flu. I suggest that you see your doctor today. If it is less than 72 hours since the symptoms started, and you do have the flu, you can be started on an anti flu medication to improve recovery. That is safe: It may help you to take 1 excedrin 3 times per day for 3-4 days.  For long-lasting migraine headaches, sometimes other remedies are helpful, such as the medicines amitriptyline or propranolol.

: Aspirin taken occasionally can relieve headaches, but when taken daily, aspirin overuse headaches are known to occur. NSAID meds like advil or aleve are less apt to cause pain medication overuse headaches. I recommend being evaluated by a neurologist with special interest in headache treatments or visit a headache clinic for accurate diagnosis &amp; best treatment.

In fact it is recommended for headache in one Glaucoma Journal! Of course, being the tender age that you are, be sure to take it in moderation and check to see if it interacts with any other medications you are taking. And get regular eye exams and all that...

How Much Excedrin?: A more important issue is how ofter you take the excedrin. You may be causing rebound headaches which in many ways are more difficult to treat than migraine. Feverfew is a popular herb that seems to prevent migraine.I am not aware of any major interactions as does st. John's wort, for example. It is probably more important to limit your Excedrin than worry about the feverfew interactions.
