Call doctor: Not hearing from the doctor does not mean anything. Call the doctor's office to get the results. If your Gf has had a period since the visit, it does not matter, You could do a home pregnancy test, if she has missed her period by 4-5 days. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine,

Never too early!: It is never "too early" to get started with pregnancy care. If I had my way as a pediatrician,  women would start prenatal care before conception. They should certainly stop things like drinking, smoking and drugs before the fetus is exposed- in other words, before getting pregnant. You can certainly do those things now, and also start a PNV early on (like now) to prevent neural tube defects.

Pregnancy: You should establish care with an obstetrician in about 6 weeks from the time of your last period. Do not consume alcohol, drugs, eat wisely and take a prenatal vitamin! Good luck and congratulations!

After missed period: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period.

In six weeks: with Depo-Provera there is a an additional two weeks of protection after the 12 weeks. under ideal circumstances it would take another two weeks before a woman coming off of Depol ovulates, and then another two weeks before she would anticipate her next menstrual period. after that I would repeat the pregnancy test on the weekly basisor wait until there are clinical signs like morning sickness.

Hmmm....: Home urine pregnancy tests are very accurate by 3 weeks after sex (a positive test result is accurate by 1.5 weeks after sex, but a negative result may be a false negative if tested too soon after sex). So, a woman with a positive result can recheck it a week later. If still positive, she is pregnant... but if she hasn't had sex after a miscarriage months ago, she needs to see the doctor now.
