having mild itchy throat with clear mucous and cough when i talk a lot or sing after a viral uri that included symptoms of runny nose and sore throat. its almost 4 weeks now all symptoms gone except cough when i talk a lot how long will this last?

It is not uncommon to have a lingering cough, I've seen it last as long as 6 to 8 weeks.  However, if you have fever, trouble breathing, colored/increased/thickened sputum with the cough, you should see a doctor to rule out pneumonia.

Mgt: A typical viral upper respiratory illness lasts about 10 days.  I would suggest checking your temperature and noting the reading, keep well hydrated and rest. If the symptoms persist, please see your PCP.

i get 'common cold' symptoms for a day after i swim in a pool the last 4-5 times. sore throat, sinus, sneezing. could it be a chlorine allergy?

No but: Chlorine can irritate your nose and trigger asthma for those who have the condition.  It is not an allergy however. I suspect that you may have a hay fever issue which is worsened by the chlorine exposure.

is it okay to take anti-viral amantadine for a common cold that has lasted more than a month?

Cold: If you have cold symptoms which have lasted more than a month, you should see a doctor and be evaluated. It may be nothing much but maybe it is something more than a cold or series of colds dragging on.

i definitely have a cold/virus of some sort, and my temperature is coming in anywhere from 96.4-97.5, should i be concerned at all? besides the common cold symptoms i feel okay. is that temp too low?

Cold: Your temperature is of no concern. The common cold should resolve in a few days.

Both have flu.: What you are describing is the flu.  This is a viral infection, that will resolve by itself.  The only treatment is symptomatic - tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen; if you have a lot of nausea, call your physician for a prescription to relieve it.
