i went to my gp last week. we did xray and she advised that i have bronchopeumonia. gave me antibiotics and cough syrup. i still have th cough and still not breathing like before and my meds are almost finished. do i need to be worried?

I : I am so sorry for your tragic loss.  Are you sure that the doctors didn't mean that he had a murmur in the past and that he was in asystole when the you found him?  If this is important for you to know, i'd hope your son's pediatrician would be able to clarify the situation for you.

Clear airway: If there is a pulse, open mouth and clear airway. If they are breathing without a pulse, chest thump.

2 X 4: There are alternatives. Accupuncture for example can allow someone to perform a c-section or removal of thyroid gland. Since boys at harvard did first anesthesia procedure (cool large picture in library entrance) most have faired well.

Intubation: The paramedic quickly assesses the patient, if not breathing he may have to incubate and ventilate to deliver enough oxygen. If suspicion of fracture of spine, the paramedic will immobilize the patient until he is transported  to the hospital for definitive care.

Nose blocked: You may be experiencing a partisan blockage of air flow.  Could be partial obstructive sleep apnea or just partial nasal obstruction.   Speak to your doctor about your symptoms.

Although you: Can over-ride it to an extent, your body has central "thermostats" that control how rapidly and deeply you breath. It's generally very good at adjusting it as needed.
