Very Early: Very early, usually 3-4 days after implantation of the embryo into the uterine wall. This is highly variable.  In an early healthy pregnancy, the HCG should double every 1.5-2 days.

No: They can be helpful if you are not certain what month you conceived in, but are still not very accurate for dating.

: In early pregnancy HCG levels double ever 2 days or so. There is a wide variation on the actual levels.  In a couple of weeks your doctor would be able to assess the gestational sac by ultrasound.

What did your doctor: Say? There is a wide range cannot say by one level and they should ahve also done a Progesterone level , because a Progesterone level over 10 is normal, u would be somewhere prob 3-5 weeks gesation , on my pts in coral springs, fl. I would do a 2nd one 3 days later as it should double in 3 days if normal and I do an early ultrasound at 6 1/2- 8 weeks so i can date the preg and check the heartbeat.

It is going up: And what is the Progesterone level , a normal Progesterone level is reassuring, and a low one is worrisome, u can tell if it is viable at 6 1/2 weeks when u see a normal  fetal htbeat.

Early : You can not really look at the number of bhcg and accurately determine the gestational age. We can say you are very early with such a low number.

May be: It did double, it is supposed to double every 3 days  u are early also a Progesterone level can be done , a high one is reassuring.

Different numbers: It is likely that you conceived on or about June 18. Pregnancy is usually measured from the last menstrual period and in your case it would be considered 6/4.

After missed period: You should do the test 4-5 days after missed period. If your cycles are irregular then do the test about three weeks after what you think was day of fruitful sex. If the result is negative, repeat the test 4-5 days later. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.

i had an abortion 12/11/15. i was only 6 1/2 weeks along. i took a pregnancy test today, it was positive. could this be a new pregnancy or hcg from last pregnancy? i am trying to conceive.

Likely new: It is likely this is a new pregnancy since 6 weeks have past since your termination. Schedule a visit with an Obgyn to confirm.
