Irregular cycles are much tougher to time prospectively.  Best solution is to consider fertility medications to help regulate cycles, using ultrasound to time ovulation.

Shorter cycles can indicate problems with ovarian reserve or with the uterus, and should be discussed with an expert.

Day 20-21: Normal cycles range from every 21 days to every 35 days. Most women ovulate approximately 14 days prior to the start of a new cycle. Simply take the lengths of your cycle and subtract 14 to calculate your most fertile time.

Yes - roughly: Ovulation calculation can be reasonably accurate within a few days. I suggest tracking several cycles. Count 14d back from menses, look for day of BBT increase and ovulation day before, OPK gives 12-24hr advanced warning. Do this is you are planning pregnancy to time sex (helpful to me if you need help). Natural family planning has a high failure for most people. Best wishes.
