Says who ?/BS: Four decades ago steroid use in asthma was considered taboo. The accepted word was after 1st use the patient would not respond without them.The only available forms were IV/oral or injected. Side effects were common. When inhaled steroids came along it revolutionized treatment. Miniscule amounts directly in the lung cells did their good &amp; broke down without significant blood levels.

It depends ..: Ideally you should minimize your use of NSAIDs in the setting of renal dysfunction but physicians are usually a bit more liberal about using some low( to a most moderate) dose NSAIDs with mild chronic kidney disease.  Steroids may be better for your kidneys but have their adverse effects too - think fluid retention, elevated sugars, anxiety provoking, worsening blood pressures, increased appetite.

: Topical corticosteroids do not get "in your system" in amounts that would cause any health problems of any kind. There is no effect on plasma creatinine.

i have blocked nose for 2 months now, at 1st i used decongestions & antihistamines but it didn't help. so i visited an ent, he said that it is allergy and prescribed nasonex corticosteroids nasal spray for 2 weeks, my symptoms decrease but not cured?

: The steroid nasal sprays are very effective for allergic rhinitis causing congestion. It does take up to 2-3 weeks of use of the spray to get full affect. You want to make sure that you use it regularly every day to ensure a better outcome.
