Culture.: It is very rare to see herpes inside the mouth, despite what you've been told, or read on-line. The overwhelming majority of sores inside the mouth are canker sores, not herpes. The only way to know for sure, however, is to see your doctor for a viral culture.

i just had a date tell me that she has herpes 1 & 2.  we only had two brief closed mouth kisses, before i said good-bye.
no lesions.  could i be infected?

Doubt. Maybe immune?: Although anything's possible, it's doubtful you acquired anything from your date. Chances are you've been exposed to herpes simplex type 1 (at least) in the past, simply by being alive. Even type 2 is found as the cause of some fever blisters on the mouth (it's not limited to a sexual habitat), so you could have been exposed to both in the past, regardless of your sexual history.

i shared a vape with someone who had a cut at the corner of their mouth but it didnt look like herpes but he smoked it on the other side instead of that and i made sure i still wiped it off multiple times will i contract it if it is?

: Sores at the corner of the mouth usually are due to angular cheilitis, not herpes. But even if herpes, vigorous and repeated wiping would markedly reduce the risk, probably nearly to zero. (The much higher risk in shared vaping equipment is for colds, flu, and COVID.)

Herpetic lesions: Most often mouth sores are herpetic in origin, meaning they are full of viruses.  If you have these, consult your dds if they do not disappear within 4-7 days.  Sometimes these sores can migrate around your mouth or tongue, and become very uncomfortable.  Avoid acidic foods.  Ask your dds for a prescription rinse that might make them less painful.

Very unlikely: Herpes is spread by contact rather than through the air.  Most adult herpes is internal and not acquired from someone else.   If the contact is more intimate especially if involved in kissing or sexual activities, then spread is more likely.

Yes: If the person whose cigarette you are sharing has active lesions then you definitely are at risk. Even if this person doesn't have active lesions he/she might be shedding virus and can be contagious. It is best to not share cigs, or maybe consider quitting.

my mil keeps kissing newborn near mouth after ive repeatedly told her not to. cant tell if she has cold sore, maybe an older ones not oozy or active. scared baby will get herpes? should i have him tested?
