Not likely: Am assuming this is genital herpes.  In which case, depending on whether or  not you agree with president clinton's definition of sex you can get it from a female partner, from a penis or from oral sex.
It is highly improbable if not impossible to get it any other way.

Condom use: Condoms can decrease, but not eliminate, the risk of transmission. If you haven't been using protection, start now.  If you have any symptoms, get tested. If you don't have any symptoms, you can still be tested using a blood test. You should also have yourself tested for other STD's.

Yes: While there are 2 forms of herpes commonly transmitted, an oral and genital version, these will generally only infect the area contacted. Much of the population already has one form of herpes. If you do get symptoms, they will likely be at the mouth.

Likely: Genital herpes can and often does infect the oral region in the form of classic cold sores. If you want to decrease chances of transmission, do not give cunnilingus when there are visible lesions, and/or engage in oral sex while taking the antiviral valtrex (valacyclovir). There is no sure way to avoid transmission except for total abstinence.

Yes it is possible: Both you and your partner need to be checked for sexually transmitted infections. Some herpes carriers can transmit infection to others without having visible sores.  Also risk for herpes means risk for contracting other sexually transmitted infections including hiv. Talk with your doctor about safer sex methods to protect you and your partner.

Maybe: She may or may not have been shedding virus (contagious) at the time you hooked up. There are simple blood tests that can confirm a past infection.You may want to discuss signs /symptoms of an outbreak and be aware of what the exposure or disease means in your case.

No: Herpes is not transmitted unless there is CLOSE contact with infected person. First the virus would not survive long enough to infect you, secondly she'd need to have open lesions to shed the virus. If she is just a carrier, she won't shed virus actively, thirdly, she would need to transfer the virus through close contact which didn't happen.
