i fell on my left knee last night and woke up to it being numb. it's my entire knee, along my inner thigh, and some calf. how long will this last?? should i get it checked out or just wait? there is no pain, bruise, or visible swelling

Consult: Suggest that you consult your GP. You will need a Dupplex doppler to check your arteries and veins in your lower limb.Smokers can have arterial disease leading to occlusion in their bloodvessels. Popliteal anneurism also possibility and deep vein thrombosis.

Prepatellar bursitis: Probably a prepatellar bursitis. It is easy to drain and inject and that should resolve the issue. See an orthopedist.

Possibly baker cyst: Baker cyst is swelling caused by fluid from knee joint protruding to the back of the knee.Diagnosis easily made by ulttasound
baker cyst may cause no symptoms or knee pain and/or tightness behind the knee, especially when the knee is extended or fully flexed.Baker cysts can be treated with medications, joint aspiration and cortisone injection, and surgical operation, usually arthroscopic surgery.

follow up to dr. bennet werner swelling has gone down considerably. but i have a localized pain point at the left part of my left knee.  what is wrong?

Many possibilities: I'm a cardiologist - I think you need an orthopedist! There are many possible causes with arthritis in your knee joint from degenerative joint disease, gout, infection etc. to  torn meniscus with/without effusion - and no doubt many others possibilities. Not a heart problem!

Ice.: Ice your knee for 20 minutes at a time, 3-4 times per day. Also, take an over the counter anti-inflammatory medication. This should help. But, you should see a sports medicine knee specialist, because swelling on the joint may indicate an underlying structural problem.

Knee pain : Sound like internal damage of the knee cartilage and/or ligament.  You need an in-person examination to be sure.

See MD: Please see your doctor as the itching and swelling may be associated with an infection or maybe even simple eczema.  Stop scratching, as this can be associated with causing an infection.
