Possible: Try a different soap for a week and see is symptoms go away. Allergies can develop any time.

Pepper allergy: Allergy to any food, in this case bell pepper will cause symptoms of oral itching, lip or tongue swelling, hives, breathing difficulty and/or throat closure etc. It is caused by IgE antibody against a specific protein in the food. Food allergy is diagnosed with clinical history followed by skin or blood test and that information helps establish the diagnosis and severity of the allergy

Food allergy: If you ate the squash and had an immediate reaction (minutes to 2hrs) that included hives, swelling, shortness of breath, wheeze, throat tightness, vomiting or passing out then I would be concerned for a food allergy reaction. Would make an appointment with an allergist to determine what could be the culprit foods. Bring list of ingredients eaten that meal to appointment. Avoid foods until seen.

Whatever term used, your issue with peppers is best treated by avoiding them or eating them in private where people won't notice hiccups

Probably not: Many pregnant women crave unusual foods.  Hot peppers are not known to harm the baby.  They can cause heart-burn or diarrhea in mom.  In super high doses, they may stimulate uterine contractions.  In many cultures, spicy food is a regular part of mom's diet.  There isn't any rigorous research on the subject but your wife should be fine eating hot pepper more often than normal.  Best wishes!

Eat to tolerance: You can eat what ever you can tolerate including peppers during pregnancy, make sure you eat a balanced diet with a lot of proteins and nutrients.
