Possibilities...: The noisy breathing could be related to post-nasal drip or secretions in the lungs that clear when you sit upright. Wheezing is another possibility. To be certain, and to get treated, see your doctor and have your chest examined with a stethoscope when you are lying down and when you are upright.

my child has noisy breathing and cold sx's.  might it be asthma?

Not likely: How old is your child?
Has she had these symptoms before?
Noisy breathing that is associated wit a runny  nose or congestion may just be vibration of the mucus making noise. Kids with asthma may have an attack triggered by a cold, but they usually have cough, wheezing and maybe shortness of breath. If the noise goes away when the mucus is removed it is not likely asthma.

9 week old. tracheal retractions, subcostal retractions, noisy breathing, poor feeding - can this be normal? o2 sat is fine but working to be there.

have been on meds for a week now to no change in noisy breathing. a family member has lung bmtb which i've been exposed to but i have been to a pediatrician and had a chest xray done which came back clear?

TB test, pertussis : A TB test and pertussis screening may be helpful, and your antibiotic should cover atypical bacteria. Please have a flu vaccination and see your physician, use nasal saline and drink fluids. Treat fever and if there is a fever while on the medication please see your PCP.

ENT evaluation: A history of frequent ear infections and noisy breathing makes me concerned about large tonsils and adenoids. An evaluation by an ENT would be helpful. The cough and vomiting may be related to an ear infection, although it is difficult to know for sure without examining him.

: There may be an area of inflammation or an allergic reaction to a specific exposure. Nasal saline rinses may provide relief, and if there is no improvement, please see your PCP.  Avoid dust, mold, pollen, animal dander and smoke exposure. Watch for itchiness and rash. An allergic reaction may also cause cough and wheezing.

i have a rattle in my lungs from an acid reflux attack.  is there a home remedy or do i have to see my doctor for a breathing treatment?

GERD: If you truly have GERD, then you can try some conservative measures to see if the symptoms improve-try not to eat within 2-3 h of going to bed, elevate your bed or head approx 30 degrees, avoid spicey foods or those that cause you to have gas. Aspiration of gastric contents can injure the lung and airway and lead to infection/ cough/ bronchospasm  and should be evaluated if symptoms don't improve.
